Shiroishi City is located in the southern part of Miyagi Prefecture, bordering Fukushima Prefecture.
At the heart of the city stands Shiroishi Castle, whose wooden keep was reconstructed in 1995, surrounded by historical samurai residences and streets that retain the charm of Japan’s feudal era. The city is also well known for its spring armor parade and as a major production area of traditional Kokeshi dolls.
